HARLINGEN, Texas — On Wednesday, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol announced April’s Head of the Class recipients at a ceremony held at the Performing Arts Center at Harlingen CISD. Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol presented seniors from 16 high schools with the prestigious Head of the Class award. For over 20 years, the Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol has proudly recognized outstanding high school seniors for their excellent academic achievements and significant community service.  At the culmination of the school year, a committee selects the top Head of the Class recipients for the prestigious Border Patrol Youth of the Year Award.

Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Art Cavazos was the keynote speaker for the event. Dr. Cavazos congratulated the students on their outstanding academic achievements, service to community, and delivered an inspirational message to the students closing his remarks with a quote, “Don’t ever look down on people, but if you do, it better be to extend your arm and help them up.”
