RGV Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Criminal Migrants and Three Gang Members

EDINBURG, Texas – Over the weekend,Border Patrol agents arrested two criminal migrants and three migrants affiliated with known street gangs.

Friday, May 21, 2021, Falfurrias Border Patrol Station (FLF) agents apprehended a group of four migrants attempting to circumvent the checkpoint. The individuals were all identified as foreign nationals illegally present in the United States. During processing, agents discovered that one of the subjects, a Guatemalan national, has an outstanding warrant out of the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office, Florida for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  The subject was turned over to Brooks County Sheriff’s Office pending his extradition to Florida.

Moments later, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended 99 individuals shortly after illegally entering the United States. Record checks for a Nicaraguan national identified the man as a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member, who has three previous removals from the United States.

That evening, while FLF agents conducted operations at the United States Border Patrol checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas, a Ford Mustang arrived at the primary inspection area. Agents referred the driver to secondary for further inspection. Upon inspection of the vehicle, two subjects were found concealed underneath a blanket in the back seat area.  Agents determined the subjects were illegally present in the United States.  During processing, record checks identified one of the subjects as a Mexican Mafia gang member with multiple arrests.

Saturday morning, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents arrested a national from Guatemala near Brownsville, Texas, claiming to be a juvenile.  Further questioning of the individual revealed the subject was nineteen years old and admitted to being an MS-13 gang member.

Yesterday, MCS agents apprehended a group of 15 migrants in Penitas, Texas. During processing, agents discovered that one noncitizen, Salvadoran national, had a prior arrest in 2013 by the Ephrata Sheriff’s Office in Washington, for assault sexual motivation of a child.  He was convicted and sentenced to 180 days confinement.

All subjects will be processed accordingly.
