RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – FEB. 26, 2018 – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will hold an awards dinner March 1 to recognize the 2018 Distinguished Alumni for their career achievements and commitment to improving their communities.
Award recipients will be available for media interviews at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the McAllen Country Club.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor UTRGV alumni can receive, and recognizes prestigious, outstanding and notable graduates of UTRGV and its legacy institutions.
Distinguished Alumni Award recipients were chosen based on career accomplishments, commitment to community service, and demonstrated service and support to UTRGV and its legacy institutions.
The 2018 UTRGV Distinguished Alumni are:
- GENERAL WILLIAM F. GARRISON, Retired Major General of the United States Army
- SENATOR JUAN “CHUY” HINOJOSA, Represents District 20
- WELCOME WILSON SR., Chairman of Welcome Group
