BROWNSVILLE, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Fort Brown Station have successfully apprehended a Mexican national confirmed to be an active member of the Paisas criminal organization.

The individual, whose identity is being withheld pending further administrative processing, was taken into custody following an attempted illegal entry into the United States. During post-arrest processing and record checks, agents identified the subject’s affiliation with the Paisas, a notorious prison-based gang frequently operating in coordination with the Gulf Cartel (CDG)—a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.

The subject was turned over to the Department of Justice for prosecution regarding his illegal entry and criminal affiliations. Following a successful prosecution and completion of his jail sentence, the individual has been remanded to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for formal deportation proceedings to Mexico.
