Brownsville, Texas – The Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) announces today that the district will continue to follow the present Safety Protocols outlined in the Reopening Plan and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines, which include:

  • Face masks are required
  • Employees are required to check their temperature and answer COVID-19 Questionnaire
  • Ensure six feet of social distancing as much as possible
  • Handwashing and sanitizing protocols

In a memo released to faculty, staff, and parents, from Superintendent of Schools Dr. René Gutiérrez, states that the health and safety of BISD’s faculty, staff, and students continue to be the number one priority.

“We are aware of the current Executive Order issued by Governor Abbott lifting the mask mandate effective Wednesday, March 10,” said Dr. Gutiérrez. “However, Brownsville ISD will continue to follow our present Safety Protocols outlined in our Reopening Plan and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines.”
