EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrest two Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members in the past three days.

On Sunday, Corpus Christi Border Patrol agents assisted Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers on a vehicle stop in Goliad, Texas. DPS conducted a vehicle stop and requested assistance identifying the driver of the vehicle. Border Patrol agents determined the driver was a Salvadoran national illegally present in the country. Border Patrol took custody of the subject. During processing, record checks identified the Salvadoran citizen as an MS-13 gang member. 

This morning, McAllen Border Patrol agents working near Hidalgo, Texas, apprehended a group of nine subjects who illegally entered the United States. Among the group was a Salvadoran national who was identified through criminal record checks as an MS-13 gang member.  The subject also had prior arrests in the U.S. and was removed from the country as recently as 2019.

Border Patrol processed both subjects accordingly.  

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
