EDINBURG – The Western Athletic Conference announced on Monday that senior Sarah Bonney of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s soccer team has been named WAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Bonney helped UTRGV to a 6-0 victory over Alabama State on Saturday with a hat trick and an assist. Bonney’s three goals gave her 26 career goals, which set a new program record, surpassing Andreya Barrera’s mark of 25 goals.
Bonney’s seven points on the weekend gives her 65 career points, moving her in a tie for the most in program history with Barrera.
UTRGV will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Corpus Christi to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first matchup of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at 7 p.m.
