  • On July 13, UTRGV’s Saxophone Ensemble of 12 students performed at the 18th World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb, Croatia. The World Saxophone Congress is an international festival that gathers some 1,000 saxophonists and other musicians from the world over.

  • UTRGV’s Mariachi Aztlán, its new all-female Mariachi Azálea, and the Ballet Folklórico UTRGV embarked on a summer tour that showcased the award-winning ensembles across Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. The ensembles presented six concerts and two student workshops from July 10-16 in Floresville, Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Greely and Lone Tree, Colorado.

“These performances of our talented UTRGV music and dance students promote our excellent UTRGV programs across the world, showcase our talented students, and recruit students nationwide to our Fine Arts programs,” said Dr. Kurt Martinez, director of the School of Music.
