EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents disrupt multiple human smuggling incidents resulting in the arrest of 91 migrants.

Thursday night, Falfurrias Border Patrol Station agents working at the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint referred a semi-tractor pulling a refrigerated utility trailer to the secondary inspection area after agents observed what appeared to be people concealed within the roof fairing of the tractor.  During the secondary inspection, agents located and arrested two migrants who were hiding on the roof of the tractor. After further inspection, an additional 18 individuals were discovered within the trailer. Agents determined all subjects were illegally present in the United States. The driver and the migrants were taken into custody.

The next day, a vehicle approached the primary inspection lane at the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint. The vehicle was referred to secondary inspection after an agent observed nervousness and inconsistences with the driver during the immigration inspection. At secondary inspection, agents questioned the passengers of the vehicle and determined they were illegally present in the United States. Agents also discovered a semi-automatic pistol inside the vehicle. The driver and passengers were placed under arrest and escorted inside the checkpoint.

Later that day, RGV Border Patrol agents received information of a motel in Mission, Texas, being utilized to harbor illegal migrants.  Agents responded to the location and encountered six adult subjects, who were determined to be in the United States illegally.  The migrants were identified as nationals of El Salvador and Honduras.

Additionally, 64 subjects were arrested in four separate smuggling attempts utilizing semi-tractor trailers and a stash house.

All subjects are being processed accordingly.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
