PHARR – As an approved COVID-19 vaccine provider site by the State of Texas, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD has received Johnson & Johnson vaccines to administer to PSJA ISD educators.

“We are grateful to be able to provide this service to our PSJA Team,” said PSJA Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “We look forward to distributing more doses as they become available.”

Last week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services directed states to expand vaccine eligibility to include people who work in school and child care operations. As more vaccines become available, PSJA ISD is willing and able to continue providing this much resource to our community.

The PSJA School Board commends the efforts of the district’s Health Services Department for applying and preparing to be this resource in the community.

“Thank you to Nurse Solis and her entire staff for making this possible for our school district,” said School Board President Jorge Zambrano. “As the largest employer in the tri-city area, we are grateful to have the means and resources necessary to vaccinate our staff members who have been part of the frontline since the pandemic started. Many of them have been instrumental in providing meals for our students, and cleaning and disinfecting our schools and facilities. We hope to get more allocations soon to service all who are still needing a vaccine.”

The district plans to host more COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics for its more than 5,000 employees as more vaccines become available. The dates and schedules for vaccine distribution sites will be shared as these are confirmed. Individuals can visit the PSJA ISD website www.psjaisd.us and follow the district on social media @PSJAISD for announcements and updates.
