DONNA, Texas ̶̶ Border Patrol agents visit local elementary students to raise awareness on bullying.

This morning, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents had the distinct privilege of visiting Patricia S. Garza Elementary School in Donna, Texas. Agents visited the school to help promote Operation Stand Up, a newly formed campaign aimed at educating students about the negative effects associated with bullying.

The agents lectured, conducted interactive activities, and showed videos to nearly 400 students. The presentation touched on topics such as identifying kids who are being bullied, and what actions they should take in order to stop it. Additionally, since its inception in late October, Border Patrol has provided this important presentation to more than 4,000 students across the Rio Grande Valley. “With the increase usage of social media, bullying has been magnified and people are more socially aware of the negative impacts it can have on an individual”, stated Border Patrol Supervisor Pete Cantu.
