EDINBURG, Texas â€“ U.S. Border Patrol agents make significant seizures over the weekend.

Saturday morning, agents from the Rio Grande City station working near Escobares, Texas, observed multiple subjects illegally enter the United States. As agents attempted to arrest them, the subjects abandoned several bundles of marijuana and fled to Mexico. Agents seized nearly 350 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $280K.

On Sunday night, Rio Grande City agents working near Garceno, Texas, responded to a report of a vehicle suspected of smuggling narcotics traveling north of the Rio Grande. As agents arrived to the area, the driver of the Dodge Durango abandoned the vehicle and fled. Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 40 bundles of marijuana, weighing over 460 pounds and worth an estimated $371K. Agents searched for the driver to no avail.

In addition, within the last several days, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents seized over 80 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated value of $2.5 million dollars.

Border Patrol is processing the cases accordingly.
