RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas â€” U.S. Border Patrol agents rescue two subjects in distress near the U.S. riverbank.

Early this morning, agents responded to a report of several subjects who illegally entered the country near Rio Grande City, Texas. Upon arrival, agents observed a woman in the Rio Grande clinging to a tree along the U.S. riverbank. Using a branch to reach the woman, agents successfully pulled her out of the water as she began to lose consciousness. Agents rendered aid and transported the woman to an area accessible to Emergency Medical Services (EMS). While waiting for EMS, agents located a second subject who claimed to have broken his arm. Agents helped stabilize the man’s arm and requested a second ambulance. EMS transported both Honduran nationals to a local hospital for treatment.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
