LOS FRESNOS, Texas – On Friday, April 17, the Los Fresnos community will be welcomed to the newly remodeled Walmart store located at 1004 W Ocean Boulevard, Los Fresnos, TX 78566.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration will take place, featuring recognition of local organizations making a positive community impact.
With these renovations, the store has undergone a full transformation.
The remodeled location now features the following upgrades:
| • A more open, customer-centric floor plan |
| • An updated Vision Center and Pharmacy |
| • Transformed departments for an improved shopping experience |
| • New interior and exterior signage |
| • Expanded parking for easier access |
| • Enhanced online order fulfillment capabilities |
The celebration will also include recognition of long-term associates, including seven associates with 25 years of service or more, as well as a National Anthem performance by Chloe Candanoza of Los Fresnos High School and a presentation of colors by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department. Walmart will also recognize local community organizations through the presentation of grants totaling $6,000, including:
| • Ethel Whipple Memorial Library – $2,500 |
| • Communities In Schools LF Branch – $2,500 |
| • RGV Humane Society – $1,000 |
Several guests are expected to attend the ribbon-cutting event, including elected officials and community leaders such as Mayor Flores, the Los Fresnos Police Chief, the City Manager, and City Council Members.
Additionally, customers attending the re-grand opening will enjoy free samples from Blue Bell Ice Cream, Coke, Frito-Lay, Pepsi, and Whataburger.
The store’s new Los Fresnos–inspired mural will be highlighted during the celebration. Attendees can enjoy kid-friendly activities, including a craft station, vendor giveaways, photo opportunities, and more.
This location is part of Walmart’s continued investment in Texas, following 67 store remodels completed across the state in 2025. These enhancements also reflect Walmart’s broader commitment to improving the associate experience and deepening engagement with the communities it serves.
