The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce has announced that Emmitt Smith will serve as the keynote speaker for its upcoming business conference, “The Business Playbook,” scheduled for April 23, 2026, in Edinburg, Texas. The announcement was made during a press conference on March 26 at the chamber’s headquarters, where organizers outlined plans for a full-day event focused on professional development and business strategy.
The conference, organized in partnership with Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, is designed to bring together business leaders, professionals, and community members for networking and education. According to organizers, the event will center on practical strategies, leadership insights, and tools to support business growth.
Omar Ochoa said the conference reflects ongoing efforts to support local businesses by connecting them with valuable resources. “This business conference is just one example of that. It’s making sure that our business owners have the information that they need to succeed,” he said.
Chamber Executive Director Ronnie Larralde said Smith’s participation highlights the level of expertise the organization aims to bring to the region. “This is the caliber of leadership, excellence, and insight that we’re bringing right here to Edinburg,” he said.
Smith, a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and former Dallas Cowboy, is widely recognized for his achievements on the field, including three Super Bowl championships and more than 18,000 career rushing yards. Organizers also emphasized his work beyond football as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and NASCAR team co-owner, positioning him as a speaker who can connect sports discipline with business success.
In a promotional video shared during the announcement, Smith spoke about the importance of commitment and perseverance. “If you want something bad enough, you’ve got to make that sacrifice. You’ve got to pay the price for it,” he said. In another statement highlighted by organizers, he added, “In order to achieve great things in your life, you have to be consistent in what you are doing.”
The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. Organizers are encouraging attendees to secure tickets in advance as the date approaches, citing strong interest in the keynote speaker and the conference programming.
