EDINBURG, Texas – The Hidalgo County Courthouse will remain closed to the public on Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3, as officials continue to assess damage to the building following a vehicle crash into the courthouse entrance.
After meeting with engineers and reviewing the damage to the building, county officials determined that the courthouse should remain closed to the public until it is deemed safe to reopen.
Members of the judiciary, court staff and county employees will be permitted to enter the courthouse to conduct essential county business during the closure.
Jurors and members of the public who were scheduled to report to the courthouse on Wednesday or Thursday should not report to the building. County officials continue to coordinate with judicial leadership regarding scheduled hearings, jury proceedings and other court operations affected by the closure.
