McALLEN, Texas – On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the City of McAllen held a special election for City Commissioner, District 5. All early and election day votes have been counted. Additionally, all provisional ballots have been reviewed and cured, to the extent possible. 

The deadline for the City to receive mail-in ballots post-marked on or before election day is 5 p.m. today, Monday, May 4. The deadline for voters to cure any deficiencies in mail-in ballots is Friday, May 8.

The City of McAllen appreciates the community’s patience as it meets its obligations under the Texas Election Code. The unofficial election results, inclusive of all provisional ballots and cured mail-in ballots, will be published on Saturday, May 9. The City Commission will canvass the election at the City Commission meeting on Monday, May 11. Election results are final upon canvassing.
