WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ted Cruz announced the appointment of Cassy Garcia as State Director for his Texas operations.
Garcia, a native of Edinburg, Texas, has nearly two decades of experience in public service and government relations at the local, state, and federal levels. She began her career as a Regional Field Representative for the Texas Agriculture Commissioner and later served as South Texas Regional Director and Deputy State Director for Cruz. She most recently served as Acting State Director.
During her tenure in Cruz’s office, Garcia was appointed in 2020 by former President Donald Trump to serve as a commissioner for the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg. She is married to Jason Owens, the retired 26th Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol.
“I am proud to announce Cassy Garcia as my new State Director,” Cruz said. “Cassy is a longtime member of my team and brings extensive experience fighting for Texans across the Lone Star State. She is a proven leader, has deep relationships across our communities, and an extensive record enhancing our state. I am excited and confident she will now deepen that record in her new role.”
“It is truly an honor to lead the outstanding Texas team for Senator Cruz,” Garcia said. “This new role carries a deep responsibility to serve the 31 million Texans who count on our work every day. I’m committed to leading with focus, collaboration, and purpose as we support and advance Senator Cruz’s mission.”
