WHY:              Local veterans of the Vietnam War will be joined by the Mariner Marlin Association at a flag raising ceremony to be held at the McAllen War Memorial, commemorating the anniversary of the Vietnam War.  The flag is a traveling flag and will be flown in all 50 states.  It is arriving from Arizona and will be displayed until Monday, where it will then be sent to Colorado.  McAllen is the only Texas city that will display this flag.

“We take the time now to honor all who fought, were captured and tortured and especially, those who died in the Vietnam War,” said Mayor Darling.  “We honor them now, for their service, courage and sacrifice.”
