The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and Weslaco PD will host workshops on workplace violence on Thursday, April 19 at the Weslaco Business Visitor & Event Center. The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and Weslaco Police Department will host two back-to-back workshops on workplace violence on Thursday, April 19, at the Business Visitor and Event Center in Weslaco. The workshops, sponsored by Montalvo Insurance and Smith Security Group, will assist local businesses and organizations with real-world scenarios, preventive recommendations, and action plans for emergencies. This event is FREE for Weslaco Chamber members and $20 for non-members.

The first seminar, Preventing Violence in the Workplace, will cover:
– Identify perpetrators, causes, and warning signs
– Common acts of violence from harassment to intimidation or physical harm
– Recommendations and actions to prevent violence and protect your work team

The second seminar, Active Shooter – How to Respond, will cover:
– How to respond when active shooter is in your vicinity
– How to respond when law enforcement arrives
– Components of an Emergency Action Plan & training employees
