Statement by Congressman Henry Cuellar:
Good afternoon. I’m Congressman Henry Cuellar. I appreciate the many calls, texts, tweets, and messages of support. The amount of support from so many in our community is humbling, and I’d like to personally thank you for having my back.
As I said last week, I’m fully cooperating with law enforcement and committed to ensuring that justice and the law is upheld. There is an ongoing investigation that was showed that there was no wrongdoing on my part. As an attorney, I know firsthand that the legal system is the pillar of our democracy. I pride myself on being your Congressman and always doing things honestly, ethically, in the right way.
Behind me is my childhood home in Las Lomas. When I look at this house, I see struggle, I see sacrifice, I see hard work, I see grit, I see Laredo, the 956. This is my home, my community, and why I got into politics. Nothing can distract me from being laser focus on getting the job done for you and for South Texas, the way I always have.
Let me be clear, I’m running for reelection and I intend to win. I will continue to represent the congressional district of Texas. Like I always have. It is the honor of my life to represent you in Congress and together we will win this election. Thank you. And God bless you

Buenas tardes, soy el Congresista Henry Cuéllar. Primero, agradezco las miles de llamadas, mensajes de texto, tweets y mensajes de apoyo. Todo este apoyo de tantos en nuestra comunidad me llena de humildad y me gustaría agradecerles personalmente por apoyarme.
Como dije la semana pasada, estoy cooperando plenamente con las agencias correspondientes y estoy comprometido a garantizar que se respeten la justicia y la ley. Hay una investigación en curso que demostrará que no yo no hice nada ilegal. Como abogado, sé de primera mano que el sistema legal es un pilar de nuestra Democracia. Me enorgullece ser su congresista y siempre hacer las cosas con honestidad, ética… y de la manera correcta.
Estoy aquí en la casa de mi infancia en Las Lomas. Cuando veo esta casa, veo lucha, veo sacrificio, trabajo duro, valor. Veo a Laredo- el 956. Esta es mi casa, mi comunidad y la razón por la qué me metí en la política. Nada puede distraerme de cumplir mi trabajo para usted y para las familias del sur de Texas… como siempre lo he hecho.
Permítanme ser claro, estoy buscando la reelección y tengo la intención de ganar. Seguiré representando al Distrito 28 Congresional de Texas con todo lo que tengo. Es el honor de mi vida representarlos en el Congreso y juntos ganaremos esta elección. Gracias y que Dios los bendiga.
