EDINBURG, Texas – After earning the first win of the 2020 campaign, Rio Grande Valley FC (1-9-3) hosts, possibly, the last matchup of the season as they face OKC Energy FC (1-7-7). Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CST and will be live nationally on ESPN+ and locally on Azteca Valle 5.2.

October brings awareness to those who have fought, continue to fight and who have defeated breast cancer. In honor, RGV FC will provide pre-game entertainment as Queen Killah Bee takes the stage as DJ and a special tribute to breast cancer survivors will be done during halftime, along with pink colored concession deals, presented by DHR Health.

Teddy Bears will be in the stands on Saturday night. It will be the last chance to donate a Fanfare Bear to the Friends for Hope, a non-profit organization that supports Vannie E. Cook Cancer Clinic who provide life-saving cancer treatment to kids in the Rio Grande Valley, regardless of their financial situation. Here are your three key points:

  • This year has been a difficult one for everyone, especially for the Toros’ organization these past weeks. After a little over of three long weeks of no soccer action, RGV FC snapped the 12-game winless streak with a 2-0 upset win to Austin Bold FC. The Toros kept a clean sheet while earning the first-ever win against the Bold bringing their overall record between the two to 1-5-0. Along with some club records, Kyle Adams appeared for a total of 60 matches, 58 starts with the club.
  • Juan Carlos Azocar debuted with RGV FC, earning 61 minutes adding one total shot, one on target and created one chance. Juan Carlos Obregon Jr. and Kyle Edwards electrified the pitch in front of 700+ fans. Edwards was able to score the lead for the Toros in the 41st minute after a great well-fought header to goal, while scoring his second career goal. Obregon Jr. closed off the matchup by striking a penalty kick past Austin’s goalkeeper.
  • OKC Energy FC enters the matchup after 3-2 loss against FC Tulsa during their midweek face off. Rafael Garcia ranks 6th in the USL Championship with a total of 80 crosses. He also leads the club with a total of 21 chances created and two assists. C.J. Cochran ranks 7th in the Championship with 39 total saves while having kept two clean sheets but conceding 19 goals. Jaime Chavez leads with three goals while taking 25 total shots in 15 appearances.
