PHARR, Texas – City officials, community leaders, and project partners gathered Wednesday to mark the groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art Multi-Use Facility that will strengthen municipal operations, expand community programming, and serve as a critical hub for emergency preparedness and response.

The 83,567-square-foot facility, to be built on a 14.6-acre site at the corner of U.S. Highway 281 and Ferguson Avenue, represents one of the City of Pharr’s most significant infrastructure investments in recent years. Designed to meet the evolving needs of a rapidly growing community, the versatile facility will combine government services, educational and cultural programming, civic events, and emergency management functions under one roof.

Featuring flexible event spaces with large operable partitions, advanced audiovisual technology, mezzanine viewing areas, and broadcast-ready capabilities, the facility is expected to become a central gathering place for residents while enhancing the city’s capacity to coordinate emergency operations and regional response efforts.

Construction began in May 2026 and is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2028. The project is also expected to generate between 400 and 500 construction-related jobs, creating additional economic opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and service providers throughout the region.
