City of McAllen elected officials and community partners celebrated the completion of the new City of McAllen the City of McAllen Parks & Recreation Department headquarters at a new location. The City of McAllen Parks & Recreation Department New Administration Office & Maintenance Warehouse Facility is on eight acres and features an administration and warehouse building; administration and visitor parking; employee parking; city vehicle parking; trailer parking; and material storage. Construction on the project began in August of 2021. The design firm for the project was Negrete & Kolar Architects, LLP, while the contractor was D. Wilson Construction Company. The McAllen Parks & Recreation new facility is funded by a $5.158 million 2018 Certificate of Obligation.
