McALLEN, Texas – The City of McAllen continues to rank among the nation’s best places to live, earning the No. 27 spot in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–2027 Best Places to Live rankings. McAllen is among 11 Texas communities ranked in the nation’s top 30, joining Flower Mound (#3), Leander (#8), Frisco (#9), Sugar Land (#10), League City (#13), Pearland (#16), McKinney (#17), Allen (#23), Cedar Park (#24) and Mansfield (#25). McAllen ranks No. 11 among Texas communities on the national list.
The annual U.S. News ranking evaluates 250 communities across the United States based on four key measures: quality of life, value, desirability and job market strength. The rankings draw data from public and private sources, as well as resident input.

McAllen previously ranked No. 20 in the 2025–2026 report and No. 48 in 2024–2025, continuing its consistent presence among U.S. News & World Report’s top-ranked communities.
