The McAllen Crime Stoppers Annual Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway was a great success because of our partners the City of McAllen, McAllen Police Department and other community partners. This year, 250 families received a Thanksgiving meal.
After the turkey meal distribution, city leaders, volunteers and Crime Stoppers board members hit the streets with McAllen Police Department officers to distribute turkeys to motorists. Police officers would stop drivers and offer them a “Turkey or Ticket?”
Dozens of motorists chose the turkey meals instead of the ticket or traffic violation. McAllen Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that provides rewards up to $1,000 for tips to anonymous callers who provide information about crimes to the McAllen Police Department investigators.
The funds are raised by McAllen Crime Stoppers board members to pay for the turkey meals.
