MISSION, Texas — Mission Economic Development Corporation has announced Lone Star National Bank as the inaugural title sponsor of the first Mission Small Business Expo, an event designed to connect local entrepreneurs with customers, resources and new markets.
The expo is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Mission Event Center. Admission will be free, and activities are expected to run throughout the day.
Mission EDC said the event was created to increase connectivity, improve visibility, and expand market opportunities for Mission entrepreneurs. Organizers expect thousands of people to attend, with about 60 Mission small businesses showcasing their products and services.
The expo will also include workshops, food trucks, door prizes and the Ruby Red Ventures pitch competition. Small-business advocacy and support organizations, including the U.S. Small Business Administration, UTRGV and Workforce, are expected to participate.
Andrew Davis, whom Mission EDC described as a national artificial intelligence expert and small-business specialist, will deliver the keynote address.
Mission EDC said Lone Star National Bank’s sponsorship will help make the inaugural event possible and support local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Lone Star National Bank is a Hispanic-owned financial institution headquartered in McAllen. Established in 1983, the locally owned bank has expanded from its Rio Grande Valley roots to other South Texas communities, including San Antonio. The bank reports more than 700 employees and 36 locations across South Texas.
The bank provides personal and business banking, lending, digital banking and other financial services. Its corporate office is at 520 E. Nolana Ave. in McAllen.
According to the bank, its mission includes helping customers succeed financially while supporting its employees, communities and shareholders. Its sponsorship of the Mission Small Business Expo places the bank among the organizations participating in Mission EDC’s effort to connect local businesses with resources and potential customers.
