AUSTIN – This week, Governor Greg Abbott selected multiple qualified candidates to serve on behalf of Texans.

84th Judicial District Attorney â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Clay Carr as District Attorney for the 84th Judicial District in Hansford and Hutchinson Counties, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

425th Judicial District Court â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Jason Bramow as Judge of the 425th Judicial District Court in Williamson County, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

490th Judicial District Court â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Cindy Bridges as Judge of the 490th Judicial District Court in Brazoria County, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

492nd Judicial District Court â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Leonard Peters as Judge of the 492nd Judicial District Court in Colorado and Lavaca Counties, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

513th Judicial District Court â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Jacqueline Franklin as Judge of the 513th Judicial District Court in Harris County, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

514th Judicial District Court â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Michael Landrum as Judge of the 514th Judicial District Court in Harris County, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

Marriage and Family Therapists Board â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Misti Nielsen to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists for a term set to expire on February 1, 2029. The Board licenses and regulates marriage and family therapists in Texas.

Private Sector Advisory Council â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Jay Bodnar to the Private Sector Advisory Council for a term set to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The council advises the Governor on homeland security issues that are pertinent to the private sector.

State Board of Education, District 4 â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Tammie Nielsen to the State Board of Education, District 4, for a term until December 31, 2026, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

Specialty Courts Advisory Council â€“ Governor Abbott reappointed Carlos Y. Benavides, IV and Leslie Kay Ritchie and appointed Laura Figueroa to the Specialty Courts Advisory Council for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. The Council evaluates applications for grant funding for specialty courts from the Governor’s Office and makes funding recommendations to the criminal justice division regarding best practices.
