Erika Gutierrez, founder and CEO of FAME RGV Magazine in McAllen, Texas, said she launched the social media-based magazine in 2018 to highlight talent and businesses in the Rio Grande Valley across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. She said the idea grew from her interest in communication and her experience participating in theater productions and commercials. “The idea stemmed from my love for everything related to the art of communication,” Gutierrez said, adding that she wanted to give “the community insight into new talents and new businesses” so they could gain recognition.

Gutierrez explained that the name FAME is an acronym for “Fashion, Art, Music, and Entertainment,” which reflects the publication’s focus on creative fields. She said the magazine features a range of individuals, including artists, performers, and chefs, noting that “cooking is an art form, too.” Through interviews and event coverage, she said she aims to connect with people and share their stories with the community.

Operating since 2018, Gutierrez said her work involves meeting people and discovering talent across different disciplines. “I’m passionate about it; I enjoy it immensely,” she said. “I love meeting people… and helping our community get to know them as well.” She added that the publication covers topics such as education, health, and music, with an emphasis on stories that motivate audiences.

Gutierrez said her primary goal is to inspire others to pursue their ambitions. “I want my interviews to serve as an inspiration,” she said, explaining that she hopes people who are hesitant to take risks will feel encouraged to act. She said her message to the community is: “Have faith, believe in yourself, and just go for it.”

FAME RGV Magazine maintains a presence on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube under the same name, where Gutierrez shares content to promote local talent and encourage personal and professional growth.
