McAllen, TX, November 12, 2013:  Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities and Scholarships (VAMOS) is holding its 18th Annual Golf Tournament on March 1, 2014 at the Palm View Golf Course.   This tournament is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year and one of the most anticipated tournaments in the Valley.   The VAMOS golf tournament committee, chaired by Dr. Armando Moncada of Moncada Plastic Surgery, has begun working to sure the event is a success.  Committee members are dedicated to raising $1 Million in scholarship funds for Valley students.

PlainsCapital Bank (PCB) has also committed to the cause as the Presenting Sponsor for the 18th Annual Golf Cup Tournament.  PlainsCapital is a proactive corporate citizen dedicating financial resources, volunteers and leadership talent to civic, community, education, financial literacy, arts, culture, health and human services initiatives in the communities where it does business.  As the newest bank in the Valley, VAMOS is excited to have PCB as a partner in promoting education among Valley students.

VAMOS was founded in 1996 in response to an urgent need to improve educational opportunities for Valley students. Every year, VAMOS awards graduating high school seniors with four year renewable scholarships of up to $20,000 to attend the college or university of their choice.  VAMOS also provides its scholars with a network of resources through their mentorship program. This program helps guide students through their four years in college and ensures their success.
