Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott has appointed Harlingen native and UTRGV accounting lecturer Jimmie Limon to the Texas Product Development and Small Business Incubator Board.

“It is a great honor to be able to serve, first and foremost our community and secondly our governor,” said Limon, lecturer and assistant to the MBA director in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship at UTRGV. “Several things have prepared me for this, such as my involvement in academia, my membership in different associations in the Rio Grande Valley, and being an entrepreneur in the areas of finance and development.”

Limon has more than a decade of experience in financial and business. He previously served as CEO of New Age Construction Concepts Inc. in Harlingen, and as a mortgage broker at Source One Lending Corp. He has been with UTRGV and legacy institution UTPA since 2014. He earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from UTPA in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

The PDSBI provides financing to aid in the development, production and commercialization of new and improved products to foster and stimulate the development of small businesses in the state.

Limon’s term is for five years ending in 2023. The board consists of nine members, all appointed by the governor.

Limon said he hopes his involvement will benefit the Rio Grande Valley community in a positive way.

The other four recent appointees are:

  • Jody Goehring, Austin.
  • Manny Salazar, Kingsville.
