BROWNSVILLE – The full width of State Highway 4 (International Boulevard) currently under construction, between I-69E and Wilson Street in Brownsville, is scheduled to reopen, next week.
Starting on Tuesday, May 5 and continuing through Wednesday, May 6, road crews will conduct daytime and nighttime operations to begin removing portable concrete barricades and installing roadway striping.

Drivers are reminded to be cautious in the work zone by slowing down, not tailgating and watching out for workers.
The work scheduled next week marks the completion of Phase One of the State Highway 4 reconstruction project, which consists of converting asphalt pavement to concrete. Subsequent phases will extend concrete pavement on SH 4 to SH 48.
The $21M dollar project’s new concrete pavement transforms the roadway into an overweight/oversize corridor making it more durable for heavy commercial vehicles. Improvements also include drainage enhancements. Watch drone footage of the lane opening area: Courtesy of TxDOT:
