RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that the track & field teams will compete in three indoor meets leading up to the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships starting January 14-15 at Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational.
The opener is one of two times UTRGV visits Texas A&M, along with the Charlie Thomas Invitational February 4-5. UTRGV also competes in the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational January 28-29.
The WAC Championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico, are set for February 18-19. The NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Ala., are scheduled for March 11-12.
“We have a very competitive schedule and will be facing competitors of a national caliber,” UTRGV head coach Shareese Hicks said. “Every event area will be ready to compete at the highest level, but I’m most looking forward to having the entire team competing as one.”
