New for all 2018, STC has installed a number of options in order to assist students getting to class on time. In addition to permit-free parking at its Park and Ride facility at its Pecan Campus, the college has set up a shuttle service free of charge for students and employees.

The South Texas College Art Department presents "Diss this (Dis)Agreement," an art exhibition featuring works by artist, David Alcantar. The exhibit opens on Tuesday, Sept. 4, and will be available to view Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 4, 2018. STC will hold an opening reception for the artist on Sept. 13.

Dr. Whitney Kilgore, co-founder and Chief Academic Officer at iDesign was the keynote speaker at STC’s 12th annual distance learning Symposium held on Aug. 23. At the symposium, Dr. Kilgore spoke to faculty about innovation and engaging students for online learning.

STC Minimesters are available for students who need to wrap up their courses quickly. These are courses that range in length from five to 14 weeks and offer the same quality instruction and same credit but in a shorter time span. Courses are available in traditional classroom or face-to-face and online settings.

STC held its annual Superintendents Leadership Academy on Monday, Aug. 14. The event was a roundtable-style meeting with STC administrators and Valley leaders from partnering school districts to prepare for the school year ahead.

Edinburg North High School student Ethan Rogers was one of six students who participated in the first ever Summer Aviation Camp July 16-19. The camp was created through a unique collaboration between South Texas College and McAllen Flight Academy, which conducted the class.
