RGV Agents Seize Over $258K in Marijuana

EDINBURG, Texas– Over the weekend, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents seized over 322 pounds of marijuana in two separate events.

On Friday morning, Fort Brown agents observed multiple subjects loading bundles into a vehicle in Brownsville, Texas. Agents responded to the area and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle led agents on a short pursuit that ended near the Rio Grande. Agents seized the abandoned vehicle and seven bundles of marijuana. The bundles of marijuana had a total weight of 225 lbs. with an estimated value of almost $180K. A search for the suspects yielded negative results.

On Saturday, Harlingen Border Patrol agents observed several subjects by the border fence near El Ranchito, Texas. The subjects were attempting to smuggle bundles of narcotics into the United States. Responding agents were able to apprehend four subjects and seize four bundles of marijuana with the assistance of a service K9 team. The total weight of the marijuana was more than 97 pounds, valued at $78K.

Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
