This local Kiwanis club is a brand of a worldwide organization that serves children in over 80 countries with efforts to empower youth and end issues such as literacy deficiency, hunger, and poverty. Kiwanis International is made up of thousands of individuals with over 150,000 service projects completed every year. Each club branch has a mission to look out for local clubs and organizations that Kiwanis can support in alignment with the international goal of creating an impact and bettering the lives of children.

The Pharr Kiwanis chose to donate to the Boys and Girls Club in support of their Youth Development Programs and efforts towards providing a positive place for kids. The Boys and Girls Club of Pharr opens its doors at three-unit locations; Main, South Pharr, and San Juan to thousands every weekday. The club offers activities that focus on education, health, the arts, physical fitness social skills, technology, and fun. Through the Boys and Girls Club of Pharr, youth from all income levels, including moderate to low, have access to various activities that encourage growth and leadership planned by trained leaders, as well as daily meals and snacks.

The Boys and Girls Club of Pharr would like to thank the Pharr Sunrise Kiwanis Club for believing in the mission of BGCP: to provide a safe and nurturing environment to enable our children to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Kiwanis and BGCP share a heart for positively impacting lives, and the donation will help the youth of Pharr and surrounding areas have a summer to remember.
