PHARR, Texas – The Pharr Economic Development Corporation (Pharr EDC), in partnership with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center (UTRGV ECC), successfully launched the inaugural “Art of Entrepreneurship” series at the Pharr Global Business Hub, bringing together entrepreneurs, artists, business leaders, and community members for an inspiring evening celebrating the connection between creativity, innovation, and economic development.
The event highlighted how artistic expression and entrepreneurship share a common foundation, vision, innovation, resilience, and the courage to create something meaningful. Guests enjoyed an engaging program featuring Augusto Contreras, Founder of Creative Arts Studio, local creative leaders, networking opportunities, and an art exhibition showcasing the work of talented Rio Grande Valley artists.
As part of the event, several original works of art were selected to remain on display at the Pharr Global Business Hub for the next three months, transforming the space into a vibrant gallery that celebrates local talent while creating an inspiring environment for entrepreneurs, business owners, and visitors.

“This series reflects our belief that entrepreneurship extends beyond traditional business models,” said Victor Perez, President & CEO of the Pharr Economic Development Corporation. “Innovation is fueled by creativity, and by bringing together the business and arts communities, we’re creating new opportunities for collaboration, inspiration, and economic growth. The Pharr Global Business Hub was designed to be a place where ideas flourish, and tonight was a perfect example of that vision coming to life.”
The event was made possible through the collaborative partnership between Pharr EDC and the UTRGV Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center, whose shared mission is to equip entrepreneurs with the resources, education, and connections needed to launch and grow successful ventures while strengthening the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“The Art of Entrepreneurship demonstrates what can happen when we intentionally bring together entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and community partners,” said Leticia Adame, Economic & Workforce Development Director for Pharr EDC. “Entrepreneurship isn’t limited to launching a business, it also includes empowering creative individuals to transform their talents into sustainable opportunities”.
Throughout the evening, attendees explored artwork created by local artists while learning the stories and inspiration behind each piece. The exhibition was curated, showcasing the region’s creative talent and highlighting the role artists play in strengthening communities and fostering innovation.
“Partnering with Pharr EDC on this initiative allows us to celebrate the incredible artistic talent in our region while demonstrating that creativity and business development go hand in hand. We’re excited to continue creating opportunities where entrepreneurs and artists can connect, collaborate, and grow together,” said Armando Villarreal, Economic Development Training Specialist with the UTRGV Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center.
Among the featured artists was Tania Viveros, whose artwork was selected for display at the Pharr Global Business Hub through the exhibition.
“Having my artwork selected to be displayed at the Pharr Global Business Hub is an incredible honor,” said Tania Viveros. “It’s encouraging to see organizations like Pharr EDC and UTRGV ECC recognize that artists are entrepreneurs, too. Opportunities like this not only showcase our work but also help connect us with the community and remind us that creativity has an important place in economic development.”
The inaugural Art of Entrepreneurship event reinforces the Pharr Global Business Hub’s commitment to delivering innovative programming that supports entrepreneurs across every industry. By embracing creativity alongside business development, Pharr EDC and UTRGV ECC continue to cultivate an entrepreneurial ecosystem where innovation, collaboration, and quality of life drive long-term economic success.
Pharr EDC plans to continue the Art of Entrepreneurship series with future sessions exploring additional topics while providing opportunities for local artists and entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and grow.
