Keep McAllen Beautiful (KMB) organized its annual Greatest American Clean-Up & Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at McAllen Municipal Park. Volunteers helped clean major streets, parks, schools, and hike and bike trails.
“Events like the Greatest American Clean-Up bring our community together. It’s not just about picking up trash, it’s about showing pride in McAllen, connecting with neighbors, and making our city a better place for everyone,” said Mayor Javier Villalobos.

More than 800 volunteers participated in the citywide cleanup effort, removing litter from streets, parks, trails and school campuses. Volunteers were assigned to designated areas and transported by shuttle, with supplies and refreshments provided throughout the event.
“We saw lots of new faces help clean our city, we’re so grateful to those who spent time with us on Saturday giving back to our community and making a visible impact,” said Committee Chair Normalynda Zepeda.
Building on last year’s turnout of more than 500 volunteers, this year’s event welcomed over 800 participants, reflecting a growing spirit of pride and service in McAllen as the city contributes to the nationwide momentum leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States and advances the mission of Keep Texas Beautiful to create cleaner, greener communities for generations to come.
