Mission, TX- The City of Mission is breaking barriers. Former Councilwoman for Place 3, Norie Gonzalez Garza, will be sworn in Monday afternoon as mayor. She will be joined by officials from across the Rio Grande Valley as she officially takes her oath of office at the Mission Event Center on June 20 at 4:30 p.m.

Gonzalez Garza, a lifelong resident of the municipality, is the first woman to be elected mayor of Mission. 

Jessica Ortega, a two time incumbent for City Council Place 1, will also be sworn in for her third term. The public is invited to attend the swearing in ceremony.
