STMA Friends;

As most of you know from either media reports or the announcement at our STMA meeting in May, we have begun a search for a full-time Executive Director to help us take STMA to the next level!

For the benefit of those who are not familiar with this, here is a quick recap of our plans:

  • We have now placed a job posting in WorkinTexas.com, Career Builder.com, and Indeed.com for a full-time Exec. Director for STMA
  • Salary range is $50-$60,000/yr. depending on experience.
  •  I am not leaving the organization! I will serve as an unpaid STMA board member, mentor my replacement, and continue to fully support STMA. I will continue my employment with Workforce Solutions, and my responsibilities to work with RGV EDCs and to support STMA and the manufacturing sector will not change!
  • I will Chair an STMA Workforce & Education Committee and continue the work we have done in both Hidalgo and Cameron Counties to develop high-quality training & educational programs to support industry growth and promote careers in manufacturing.
  • I will continue to conduct the biennial STMA wage & benefits survey myself for the foreseeable future to ensure there are no concerns about confidentiality.
  • I will also focus more of my attention on continuing the development of our Cameron County STMA chapter while working with schools, EDCs, and mfg. companies in the eastern RGV.
  • WHY? With over 180 member companies (and growing!) STMA badly needs someone who can devote their full-time attention to the organization. This is part of succession planning we have been working on for over three years. My role at Workforce Solutions will allow me to continue to support STMA’s vision and goals- Both RGV Workforce Solutions boards recognize the value of STMA to our region through the business, economic development, and educational partnerships we have developed.

Thanks again for all of your support of our organization and we look forward to continuing the tremendous growth we have seen over the past 26 years!

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me at Mike@STMA-Tx.org or one of our board members. www.STMA-TX.org
