McAllen High sending BPA students to State Competition

Multiple students from McAllen High School have qualified for the Business Professionals of America 2020 State Leadership Conference March 4-7 in Dallas.

The McAllen High chapter members include:

Yessica Guajardo, Alternate Graphic Design Presentation; Carlos Montes, 1st Personal Financial Management; Leo Lerma, 1st Fundamental Spreadsheet Apps; Victor Saldana, 2nd Advanced Spreadsheet Apps; Jorge Garza, 2nd Advanced Word Processing; Valerie Santiago, 2nd Presentation Management Individual; Anyssa Mojica, 2nd Extemporaneous Speaking; Anyssa Mujica, 2nd Business Management Team; Cassandra Saenz, 2nd Business Management Team;

Eliana De la Rosa, 2nd Business Management Team; Javier de la Garza, 2nd Business Management Team; Emiliano Martinez,  3rd Banking & Finance; Jaime Hurtado, 3rd Business Law & Ethics; Eliana De la Rosa, 4th in Payroll Accounting; Anthony Castillo, 4th Intermed Word Processing Skills; and Anwar Barrancos, 4th Medical Office Procedures.

They will join more than 3,200 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state-level business skill competitions, general sessions and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections.

“Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference at Calallen High School have qualified to participate at the state level conference,” Diana Rodriguez, McAllen High’s Chapter Advisor said. “The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at McAllen High have received.”

Ms. Rodriguez teaches Career Technology Education Courses along with Mr. Sergio Torres.

The McAllen High BPA chapter is involved in fundraising, community service, and leadership skill training. 

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through the application of the skills learned at school. BPA acts as a cohesive agent in the nationwide networking of education and business and industry and is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
