Students at The University of Texas-Pan American received some words of wisdom from five successful Latinos with ties to the Rio Grande Valley during a panel discussion the University hosted Sept. 18. During the panel, moderated by Chief of Staff and Governmental Relations Officer Lisa Cardoza, the panelists talked about how they overcame obstacles to achieve their goals and emphasized the importance of obtaining an education and building relationships with people to help them move forward in life. The panel was held at UTPA in honor of National Hispanic Serving Institutions Week, which runs from Sept. 15-21, as well as in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15.
