LA VILLA, Texas – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), joined by City of La Villa Mayor Rosa Perez, delivered $919,000 in community project funding he secured for the La Villa Fire Department to purchase a new firetruck and firefighting equipment. The Congressman successfully advocated for the inclusion of these funds in the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) appropriations bill, which he voted to pass and was subsequently signed into law.
“As a member of Congress, I am able to champion direct federal funding for up to 15 community projects in South Texas designed to improve our daily lives,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “A new firetruck and firefighting equipment are essential tools that enable faster response times from our brave first responders, which could be the difference between life and death. I am proud to have secured this project in Congress, and look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Perez and local leaders to ensure federal investments continue making their way to La Villa.”
For FY26, Congressman Gonzalez secured nearly $13 million for 15 community projects in South Texas, including this project, that will enhance public safety, expand workforce development, improve water infrastructure, and support environmental and recreational needs in the region.
