The City of McAllen & the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s International Relations Committee in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in McAllen, are proud to present, directly from Oaxaca, “La Gelaguetza”, Dia de los Muertos Celebration, showcasing the most traditional dances from the State of Oaxaca that highlight its beautiful art and culture.

La Guelaguetza is an annual indigenous cultural event in Mexico that takes place in the city of Oaxaca, capital of the state of Oaxaca, as well as in nearby villages. The celebration centers on traditional dancing in costume in groups, often gender-separated groups, as is traditional. Each costume (traje) and dance usually has a local indigenous historical and cultural meaning.

La Gelaguetza will take place at the McAllen Performing Arts Center and is FREE to attend.
