AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott today released the 2026 Report to the People of Texas, highlighting the state’s accomplishments in 2025 and outlining priorities for the year ahead. Published during interim years when the Texas Legislature is not in session and no formal State of the State address is delivered, this marks the Governor’s sixth Report to the People since taking office in 2015.
“Texas is the land of opportunity,” said Governor Abbott. “We believe in hard work, strong values, and individual freedom. Texas is more than a state — it is our home, our heritage, and our future. When challenges arise, Texans rise to meet them. Together, we will continue building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Texas for generations to come.”

The report highlights the administration’s continued commitment to delivering on key priorities for Texans, including border security, public safety, educational opportunity, and the protection of individual freedoms, life, and property rights.
In addition to summarizing legislation signed into law following the 89th Legislative Session — one of the most significant in state history — the report outlines Texas’ ongoing success in attracting business investment and creating jobs. It also showcases initiatives led by the Office of the Governor to strengthen economic opportunity, improve public safety, and enhance quality of life across every region of the state.
The report further celebrates the spirit of service and volunteerism that defines Texas communities, featuring stories of Texans helping Texans and reflections from First Lady Cecilia Abbott.
