AUSTIN – August 7, 2026 – This week, Governor Greg Abbott selected multiple qualified candidates to serve on behalf of Texans.

Credit Union Commission â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Chance Peeler to the Credit Union Commission for a term set to expire on February 15, 2031. The Commission is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Credit Union Department and serves as the primary point of accountability for ensuring that state credit unions function as a system.

Texas Emergency Services Retirement System â€“ Governor Abbott reappointed Matt Glaves and Jerry Romero and appointed Chris Anderson to the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System Board of Trustees for terms set to expire on September 1, 2031. Additionally, the Governor appointed Lindsay Price and Matt Hohon to the board for terms set to expire on September 1, 2027. The Board oversees and governs a dedicated retirement fund for volunteer firefighters and emergency services personnel in Texas.

Texas Veterans Commission â€“ Governor Abbott appointed Chris Cantu to the Texas Veterans Commission for a term set to expire on December 31, 2031. The Commission works to ensure veterans, their dependents, and survivors receive all benefits. They also train and certify county officers to provide services to those same groups.
