Alejandro Macias is a Lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts and Director of the Art Gallery at Rusteberg Hall at The University of Texas at Brownsville. He joined the faculty in 2013.

Macias teaches Drawing I, Two Dimensional Design and Art Appreciation. He also directs shows at the Art Gallery at Rusteberg Hall which have included “Perspective: Helen Craules” along with UTB faculty and student shows.

His teaching philosophy includes idea sharing, constructive dialogue and engagement with his students. He wants his students to challenge him in the classroom as much as he pushes them to find their creativity.

Some of his works have been exhibited at UTB’s Faculty Show, at Galeria 409 in downtown Brownsville, the Atelier International Art Gallery in Corpus Christi and the Blue Star Art Walk in San Antonio.

Macias received a bachelor’s degree in studio art from UTB in 2008 and a master’s of fine arts degree with a concentration in studio art from The University of Texas – Pan American in Edinburg in 2012.
