McALLEN, Texas — Workforce Solutions is inviting employers from across the valley to participate in the inaugural Worlds of Work South Texas, a hands-on career exploration event designed to help students discover career pathways and connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities.
The event is set to happen Friday September 18th at the South Texas College Technology Campus on 3700 W Military Hwy in McAllen, TX 78503. The goal is to bring students together with employers representing a variety of industries, giving young people the opportunity to see, experience, and participate in hands-on activities that demonstrate what it is like to work in different careers.
Employers are encouraged to create interactive experiences that allow students to explore their industries firsthand. Activities could include operating equipment, demonstrating specialized skills, completing a workplace challenge, showcasing industry tools, or participating in other activities that give students a glimpse into the day-to-day responsibilities of different occupations.
“Worlds of Work South Texas gives employers a unique opportunity to introduce students to careers they may have never considered,” said Francisco Almaraz, CEO of Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande. “When students can experience a career firsthand, they can begin to see themselves in that role. We want to bring industry into the room and give students the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and discover the possibilities that exist right here in South Texas.”
Exhibitor participation is FREE. The primary requirement for participating employers is a commitment to provide an engaging, hands-on activity that allows students to interact with and explore careers within their industry.
The event is an opportunity for employers to showcase their industry, introduce students to career opportunities, and help cultivate the next generation of skilled professionals, innovators, and community leaders.
Workforce Solutions encourages employers from all industries to consider participating, particularly organizations interested in developing their future talent pipeline and educating students about the skills and career opportunities available in their fields.
