EDINBURG, TEXAS In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Edinburg has developed the Stimulus Program Aimed at Recovery from COVID (S.P.A.R.C.) Program. This program provides Edinburg businesses and residents financial stimulus by injecting $2.5 million directly into the Edinburg economy.

Funded by the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), these funds were dedicated to local governments in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Recognizing that many businesses and residents have suffered financial hardship due to the pandemic, the City Council unanimously approved $2.5 million to help support the recovery efforts of the local economy.

“Our local economy has suffered significant setback due to the impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency,” said Edinburg City Manager Ron Garza. “Our goal in the creation of S.P.A.R.C. was to inject an infusion of business activity to provide a much needed resource for economic recovery.”

“We’re giving COVID the 1,2 punch,” said Mayor Richard Molina. “We’re going to make sure our businesses negatively impacted during this pandemic get financial help, but we’re also going to give our residents some spending money to use at our local stores and businesses.”

The program will have two distinct components aimed at introducing additional business activity in Edinburg.

·       First, the Business Grant Program will provide $1.25 million in direct grants to qualifying businesses impacted by business closures.
