EDINBURG, Texas — The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) today announced a landmark investment in the city’s hospitality and tourism sector: a proposed $18–$20 million IHG dual-brand hotel development by Binning Hospitality LLC, led by owners Kamaldeep Gill and Kulwinder Binning. The project will fully redevelop the existing Comfort Inn and MainStay Suites properties located at 4001 S. Closner Blvd., Buildings A & B, marking a transformational milestone as Edinburg’s first full-service hotel development.
The redevelopment will convert the existing properties into two distinct IHG-branded hotels spanning approximately 84,000 square feet:
* Staybridge Suites — A four-story, 95–100 room extended-stay hotel
* Holiday Inn — A three-story, 53-room full-service hotel
In addition to guest accommodations, the development will introduce a wide range of premium amenities available to both hotel guests and the public, including a full-service restaurant, bar, meeting space, basketball court, outdoor grill and patio, and spa facilities. Upgraded landscaping and new exterior signage will further enhance the property’s visibility and appeal along the South Closner corridor.
“Edinburg has been good to us and our business, so it only made sense to reinvest right here. We already have our hotels in this community, and we see firsthand the growth and opportunity this city offers. Redeveloping these existing properties into a world-class IHG dual-brand hotel felt like the natural next step. We are proud to bring Edinburg’s first full-service hotel to life, and we look forward to continuing to invest in and grow alongside this incredible community.”

Major Economic Impact and Hospitality Expansion
The $18–$20 million capital investment is projected to generate approximately $5.6 million in annual revenue, create 47 full-time jobs, and provide long-term economic benefits and employment opportunities for Edinburg residents. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026, or sooner, with completion anticipated by March 2028.
“This development is a game-changer for Edinburg. For the first time, our community will have a full-service hotel that can accommodate business travelers, conference guests, and visitors at the level they expect. This investment signals growing confidence in Edinburg’s future and will strengthen our position as a premier destination in the Rio Grande Valley. The jobs created, the revenue generated, and the elevated hospitality experience this brings will have a lasting and positive impact on our entire community.”
